Member Types
There are 8 member types to choose from in isDesign®. They are shown as follows:
Floor joist
Joist members used to frame in a floor system. Products include I-joist, solid sawn lumber, LVL (occasionally)
Dropped Beam
Drop beam is flush to the top of the wall plate height.
Roof Joist
Joist members used to frame in a roof system. Products include I-joist, solid sawn lumber, LVL (occasionally)
Flush Beam
Sits on top of the wall plate and is typically flush within the floor system
Freestanding Column
Not included in a wall frame, and does not have tributary wind load applied.
Flush Roof Beam
Frames flush into the roof system, whether it is flat or sloped.
Stud/Column in Wall
Is a stud/column that has tributary wind load applied, considering tributary load from surrounding wall studs.
Opening Header
A structural member supporting load from above for a window or door frame.
